1. What Sets DEKA Apart?

DEKA, born from the visionary minds behind Spartan Race, isn't just a workout; it's a holistic fitness experience that blends functional movements, running (not essential!) and a profound sense of community. Designed to 10X your motivation, individual performance, and connection with fellow warriors, DEKA is the missing piece in your fitness puzzle, and in the Primal Gym group training offering. We are currently the only DEKA affiliated gym in Scotland!

4. Discover DEKA Class Types at Primal Gym.

We follow the DEKA Training system programming provided to us by Spartan. There are three different workout types and each targets a different energy system:

  • DEKA BURN: Anaerobic Conditioning. This will ignite your metabolism with high-intensity bursts to push your boundaries.

  • DEKA FORGE: Strength and Power. Work heavy and hard for shorter intervals. Unleash your primal strength and power through targeted exercises.

  • DEKA GRIT: Endurance. Develop stamina and resilience, conquering every fitness challenge in your path.

We train the DTS on Monday, Wednesday and Friday nights at 6pm. Interested in coming along?

5. The DEKA Events - How do they work?

There are three DEKA event types. All of them involve 10 standardised Functional Fitness zones. The exercises need no specific prior training making the events accessible to EVERYONE! DEKA Strong and Mile are held across gyms and community centres all over the world with the DEKA Fit being hosted by Spartan in arenas. Complete all three in one calender year and you earn your DEKA Trifecta! Every competitor who completes any of the events receives a finisher’s medal and t-shirt and of course, your DEKA Mark. Your DEKA Mark is your score, if you like, allowing you to set your own baseline. Test yourself, train and retest at the next event to see your progress. You will also be entered onto the global leaderboards so you can see how you stack up against the rest of the world!

  • DEKA Strong is an event with all 10 zones and no running. 

  • DEKA Mile is an event with the 10 zones and 160 metres of running in between each station, total running distance 1 mile.

  • DEKA Fit event consists of the 10 zones with 500 metres of running inbetween each station, total running distance 5km. 

We aim to hold at least 2 DEKA Events at Primal each year, giving you your opportunity to test regularly. 

6. How to Get Involved!

First step to progress is to complete this form! Then one of the team will be in touch to chat a bit more about your goals and book you in for your Discovery Chat. This is when you’ll come into the gym and we’ll delve a bit deeper into your goals and start making a plan together to help you achieve them. From there, our coaches will guide you through our Foundations course; a series of one to one sessions designed to give you the skills to join our classes safely and with confidence.  Upon completion of Foundations, you’re then able to join the main Primal Community by becoming a fully fledged member and attending classes and social events.
